Watershed's 2024 Year in Review
This year we had the chance to travel across the country from AACR in San Diego, BiotechX in Philadelphia and FOG, BioIT & BPI right here on our doorstep in Boston. These conferences allowed us to share our advancements in high performance computing and deepen our engagement with the broader biotech community.

This past year we proudly supported a variety of organizations dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion in biotech, from sponsoring a product launch event with Women in Bioinformatics and walking with OUTbio in Boston’s 2024 Pride Parade. We’re always looking for future ways to connect with our community and can’t wait to announce more exciting partnerships in 2025.
Early into the year we launched our Science Chat interview series. Since then we’ve had incredible chats with scientific experts who shared their personal journeys, career highlights, and unique insights into their fields. Including, Dr. Miranda Stratton’s journey from cellular biologist to JEDI practitioner at the Stanford University School of Medicine and Alisa Vershinina’s fascinating background in paleogenomics.
Our Watershed Webinar series also gave us the chance to engage live with a great array of life scientists. Including Dr. Tyler Burns who taught us how to visualize and interrogate single-cell data and Dr. Michelle Atallah who brought us up to date on the latest challenges and opportunities when realizing the potential of big data in immunology and proteomics.
This year the Watershed team also tried our hand knitting blankets with PaintNite artist Cath Arnell and put our critical thinking skills to the test escaping The U-Boat at one of our local Red Fox Escape rooms!
2024 was a pivotal year for Watershed which saw our platform bloom into the all-in-one operating system for developers, scientists, and organizations that are serious about data. The driving vision behind Watershed is a platform that supports bioinformaticians in their work, removing drudgery and abstracting cloud-ops while never getting in the way of their science or preventing them from exploring applications no-one has thought of yet.
2024 saw us double down on this ethos, giving our users even more control over their own project environments and allowing seamless integration of public libraries, data, and tools alongside Watershed’s effortless parallelization, data tracking, cloud management, and UI creation capabilities.
